May 1-May 31, Hondo Iris Festival.In May hundreds of Irises are in full bloom at the Hondo Iris Farm. The Farm is open to visitors every day in May from 8-5, and admission is free. Visitors can roam one of New Mexico’s most beautiful gardens replete with Iris, and native plants in the botanical garden. There is a 'hummingbird' porch, a pond with a fountain and gold fish, places for a picnic lunch, and an interesting gallery in a 150 year old adobe building. The gallery features paintings, sculpture, and jewelry by Hondo artist Alice Warder Seely, and imported gifts, clothing, and ceramics.
