FIRE RESTRICTIONS/ CLOSURES:
PRESCRIBED BURNS:
When conditions are favorable, Forestry officials will conduct prescribed burns in the Smokey Bear, Sacramento and Guadalupe districts. On occassion, the Village of Ruidoso Fire Department conducts prescribed burns as well. Notification as to where and when these will take place will be posted here.
Monday - Thrusday, December 1 - 4, 2008
Between FS Road 120 and Devils Canyon Road, southeast of the Ruidoso Airport.
This prescribed burn is approximately 950 acres of lop and scattered fuel so the fire will creep along the ground to consume the fuels that have been left on the ground. This is a project to improve wild life habitat and forest health. Again, smoke will be very visible during ignition.
