The Sea of Cortez, or in Spanish Mar de Cortez, is often shown on maps as the Gulf of California. It is a huge subtropical sea lying between the Baja penninsula and the Mexican mainland. Nearly 800 miles in length, it offers some of the best boating, fishing, and diving in the world.
