We made our 2nd trip to Ruidoso on the weekend before Thanksgiving. I had forgotten what a great place it is to visit. The slopes weren't open, but our kids did get to walk up and slide down on sleds. It even snowed hard while we were there and our friends van got stuck. They got to receive a memorable ride back to town with a Sheriff deputy and Park ranger. The "Texas Treehouse" in the Upper Canyon was an unbelievable place to stay. Slept 11 comfortably and gorgeous views of the valley. 4-7 deer fed right below the deck each morning. we look forward to returning for many years to come.

My fiancé and I went on vacation in October 2004 to New Mexico. His family lives in Alamogordo, were as I am pure-d-Texan and have never been to New Mexico. We stayed in Ruidoso for a while as he wanted to show me where Ski Apache was. I absolutely fell in love with that town and hope to move there after the wedding. I can honestly say that Ruidoso has done something to me as I have never wanted to leave Texas, but I will in a heartbeat for Ruidoso. Next vacation (if we are not already living there) will be for an extended period of time. I even plan on skiing for the first time in my life. Wish me luck!!! Take care and God Bless!!!!!!

I left this beautiful town, that I still call home, almost twenty years ago (after my sophomore year at RHS...class of '87). I am going to try to come back for a visit this coming summer. I'd like to come sooner, but my wife is expecting our first. I've gotten some contact from friends in the past from this website and wouldn't mind some more. Drop me a line if you remember me. I definitely miss the seasons. We only have 2-3 here in the Phoenix area. Take care all and God bless.

We are looking for a place to bring 20-25 boy scouts and sponsors to work on winter safety and ski merit badges. We are trying to keep cost to a minimum. If you know of a place the boys could stay like a church camp or community center we would love the help. Thanks.

We've been visiting in New Mexico for 25 years but never had gone south of Albequerque. We just visited Ruidoso for 3 days at the end of August and fell in love with it. It is a beautiful community with great weather and lots of acitivities that even cities don't have, except the traffic and hustle and bustle. We are already looking at property with an eye to moving there. We will be back soon to start checking out properties. Now I know why people have raved about Ruidoso for so many years. Way to go Ruidoso.

Hi everyone, I was wondering if you would be able to cut and copy the employment section out of the local paper and post it on your site. I am looking for a job in Ruidoso and was able to view this on internet until a big paper bought out the local paper. Now you can not see what is available in the area. They have something called "Career Builders" and this does not even let you apply for a job there anymore. It would be nice to see what is open in Ruidoso in the way of jobs..I really do look forward to moving there and calling it my home...Thank you....Please let me know if this is posible, I have talked to the paper there and they say they have no control over what this new company is doing now, this would be great if you could do this for those that want to live in Ruidoso...THANKS--jwt

we have discovered so much in Ruidoso! Stay at the Sands motel in Carrizozo for a cheap, wonderful place to stay! Take a free tour of the beer brewing plant down the street! Eat at the Log Cabin for breakfast, Farley's for lunch.. HUGE burgers that are wonderful, and dinner at any place that strikes you! great prices and service everywhere! be sure to get some hand made bath salts at "all lathered up" and for a cheap chainsaw carved bear try the place by the fun park( put-put golf, bumper boats ets) only 19...99 for a 2-3 foot tall one! If you have cats or dogs, visit "no bones about it" for gourmet treats for your pet!

It just wasn't summer unless you where in the nice cool air of the mountains and the summer showers the excitement of the horse running. I have a lot of family history in those Mountains surrounding area. from the late 1800s I always enjoyed meeting new people from all over all the new friends I would make every year. where every i go I am always telling them about our beautiful country side they all would like to go and see. We discovered Ruidoso in 1999 when a friend told me about a place in the Mountains of New Mexico. He flies for American Airlines, could not get him to stop talking about this magical place. He has been all over the world and said this is the best place he ever found to live. He convinced us to explore the area and are we glad we did. We bought property off of route 37 near Nogal and we are building a house there to live and work. It is a dream come true to be apart of this great town and state. Look out Ruidoso... were on our way!!

Ruidoso...the love of my life. I have been going since I was 5. I am 38 now, and I struggle to find the words that explain how I feel about this place. It's heaven on earth. So many of my most special memories are in Ruidoso...there are so many I could write a set of novels. My parents, and my teenage son, feel the same way. We count the days every year to get there. We cry when we watch our videos and look at our many pictures. We cry on the way home. Sounds silly, but it's true. My best friend Stacy, who started going to Ruidoso with me and my family when we were teenagers, now lives in Cloudcroft. The mountains, the pine trees, the cool air, the people, the peace of mind you feel when you are there...it's amazing. I will fulfill my dream of living there some time in the next few years. I'm counting the days, and I'm already packing for my vacation there next month! I LOVE YOU RUIDOSO!! :)

hi, in 1961 i was 11 and my family made a cross country trip to california, this was rare for someone in rural alabama at that time, the whole community was excited .. anyway i have faint memories of waking suddenly and seeing white sands , but what i remember most was seeing fox cave , well, the entrance anyway as my dad was so unhappy with california (we were on the way back home) that he wouldnt stop .. i asked him but he wouldnt, a few years ago i found a picture post card of fox cave, the cars out front look to be from the mid 50s , many years i have thought of traveling that way and seeing it again for real this time, i leave driving alone cross country in my old 1983 bmw 320 on sunday april 18 2004, im gonna see all those places that were sweet memories to me, especially fox cave.. thank you

My family and I were in Ruidoso in February for Valentine's day. The snow was fantastic--over two feet that weekend. Sierra Blanca was like a fairy tale. The shopping was great and the skiing was magnificent. We played and sang at the local Methodist church in the Holy Crescendo Orchestra. Everyone was super wonderful and accommodating. We love New Mexico and plan to come back next year to do the same thing.

Hullo, all found you through the innofthemountiangods page... they got cranky when I emailed them. I have determined that my name was used for a character in a novel written by Edgar Rice Burroughs while he was living near the Mescalero tribal lands. I was interested in learning more about the spirit I was inadvertently named for. Anyone know some resources they can point me to? Maybe a 'wired' shaman?

My wife and I have visited Ruidoso several times. The first time was in 1985 after my mother passed away. It was a very nice place to come and rest my mind. My wife passed away in May of 2002. Last September was my first visit without her. I came with some of my friends and it was both hard and nice at the same time. We (my wife and I) always enjoyed coming to Ruidoso. We stayed in several cabins until we found the Ruidoso Lodge Cabins. That was our favorite place to stay and that's where I'll continue to stay because it's so nice. One thing that we always did was go to The Flying "J" Wrangler dinner and show. It's wonderful family entertainment and my friends that came with me this last time really enjoyed it, too. Ruidoso is a quaint wonderful place to visit and I'm really sorry to see all the casinos going in around there. At least there not in town. If that ever happens I guess I would have to find another place to vacation. Please, keep it quaint for those of us that like that way. Thanks
