Community Outreach and
Audience Development
(2007/2008 season)
This past season, the Chamber Music Festival expanded its
programming to
include small
informal
concerts in several locations. The
performers also worked with music
students
in the local schools,
with many of the students attending the evening performances.
In January, the Michael Francis Jazz Trio performed at the Hubbard
Museum of the
American
West.
The ENMU Wind Trio gave workshops at
Capitan High School and
Ruidoso High School during
the day,
then performed
an evening concert at the
Ruidoso Public Library. The ENMU Wind Trio is
made up of
faculty members
from Eastern New Mexico University:
flutist - Dr. Lindsay Beasley,
clarinetist - Dr.
Tamara
Raatz and oboist
Dr. Tracy Carr.
The
Stage Band from New Mexico Military Institute performed
at
Capitan
High School and Ruidoso Middle School, with
a noon concert
at Cree Meadows Country Club,
courtesy of the Ruidoso Lion’s Club. All the
programs were free and open to the
public. The Chamber Music
Festival plans to continue
these programs for the
2008/2009 season
to foster the love
of
classical music.
